We understand that waiting for an appointment is incredibly frustrating and anxiety-provoking. This is especially true when you or a loved one has a new diagnosis of cancer. In fact, a recent survey (Merritt Hawkins) showed that Americans wait on average 24 days to obtain a new patient appointment. Given that a recently published study of over 1 million cancer patients showed that every 4 weeks delay in treatment initiation can increase the risk of death by 10%, with that number rising incrementally with continued lags (Hanna et al, BMJ 2020), any wait at all is simply unacceptable in our eyes.

That is why at UCI Radiation Oncology, we are committed to cutting that wait time to 0 days! Effective March 2021, we began offering same day appointments to cancer patients on demand. On top, these same day appointments are not with just any generic provider but with one of our award-winning specialists. In fact, since the start of this patient-centered program at UCI Radiation Oncology, we have now seen close to 1000 patients using this convenient same day appointment scheduling— to much acclaim from patients and physicians alike. After all, if Amazon can deliver packages same day, and everything from your dry cleaning to your car service can be scheduled same day, why should cancer care be any different?

So tired of waiting? Just pick up the phone and give us a call. We are committed to making it easy for you to see us and to removing any barriers to access. Because we recognize that if cancer does not wait, why should you?
